BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the twenty-second day of January, in thethirty-eighth year of the independence of the United States of America, A.D.1814,Bradford and Inskeep, of the said district, have deposited in this office the title of abook, the right whereof they claim as proprietors, in the words following, to wit:
"History of the Expedition under the Command of Captains Lewis and Clark,to the Sources of the Missouri, thence across the Rocky Mountains, and down theRiver Columbia to the Pacific Ocean. Performed during the Years 1804-5-6, byorder of the Government of the United States. Prepared for the press by PaulAllen, Esquire."
In conformity to the act of Congress of the United States, entitled "An act forthe encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books,to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned."And also to the act, entitled, "An act supplementary to an act, entitled, "Anact for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, andbooks, to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned,"and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving, andetching historical and other prints."
